With the theme “Ngoc Linh – The Era of Rising”, this year’s Ngoc Linh ginseng festival is not only an occasion to honor rare ginseng and local cultural identity, but also affirms the strategic orientation of turning Ngoc Linh ginseng into a national brand, reaching out to the international market. Ngoc Linh ginseng festival – a key cultural – economic – tourism event of Nam Tra My district, Quang Nam province – will officially take place for the 7th time in three days, from August 1 to 3, 2025, at the Ngoc Linh ginseng festival organization center (Hamlet 1, Tra Mai commune).
Ngoc Linh Ginseng – National Treasure in the Wild
Ngoc Linh Ginseng is one of the rarest ginseng species in the world, first discovered in 1973 on the Ngoc Linh range – located between the two provinces of Quang Nam and Kon Tum. This ginseng species has a particularly high medicinal value, containing more than 50 rare saponin compounds that have the effect of improving health, restoring the body, enhancing immunity and supporting the treatment of many chronic diseases.
With an altitude of over 1,200m, a cool climate all year round and a diverse primeval forest ecosystem, Ngoc Linh mountain is considered the only “holy land” in Vietnam suitable for this ginseng to grow naturally. This is not only a valuable medical resource, but also a cultural and ecological symbol closely associated with the lives of ethnic minorities here, especially the Xe Dang people.
Ngoc Linh Ginseng Festival – a bridge between tradition and modernity
After 6 successful events, the 7th Ngoc Linh Ginseng Festival in 2025 continues to be a large-scale event to promote the Ngoc Linh Ginseng brand, promote medicinal herb trade, connect tourism and raise public awareness about conservation and sustainable development of ginseng areas.
With the theme “Ngoc Linh – The Era of Rising”, the festival affirms the strong transformation of the Ngoc Linh Ginseng planting, processing and commercialization industry, towards a new future – where Vietnamese ginseng is not only a domestic pride but also a strategic product on the world medicinal map.
Typical activities within the framework of the festival
This year’s festival is organized on a large scale, professionally and diversely, including many unique and outstanding activities:
A solemn opening ceremony and a special art program, recreating the story of Nam Tra My land, the process of discovering and preserving Ngoc Linh Ginseng – with the participation of artists, folk art troupes, and local communities.
Exhibition space – introducing Ngoc Linh Ginseng products and medicinal herbs under the forest canopy, with many booths of enterprises, cooperatives, households growing ginseng and processing medicinal herbs, helping visitors, partners and investors access a variety of products from Ngoc Linh Ginseng from fresh ginseng, ginseng soaked in honey, ginseng tea to ginseng extract cosmetics.
Cultural exchange activities – ethnic sports, gong performances – xoang dance, traditional forest worshiping ceremony of the Xe Dang people contribute to preserving the cultural identity of the mountainous region, while creating attractive experiences for domestic and foreign tourists.
Mountain food festival and local specialty fair, introducing typical dishes of Nam Tra My people from ginseng wine, ginseng chicken, to herbal cakes and typical OCOP products of Quang Nam province.
