The Vietnamese Flag – Unplanned Encounters

I don’t know since when, I have been attracted by the image of the Vietnamese flag fluttering, and very unconsciously I press the camera to save pictures of the Vietnamese flag every time I accidentally come across it on my journey. Not necessarily intentionally searching for it, nor collecting anything. It’s just that every time I see the flag fluttering, a very strange feeling wells up in my heart. Very proud. Very peaceful.

And then one day, when we sat down and looked back at the team’s photo bank, we were startled to realize: the Vietnamese flag appeared on almost every road we passed. From the highland border areas to the remote islands. From the small alleys to the sacred places of the country. Small, simple, but full of pride. The encounters could not be arranged, but they left indelible marks in our hearts.

A symbol that needs no introduction

The red flag with a yellow star, a familiar image that seems so simple, carries within it a great depth of culture and emotion. Red is not only the color of blood, the color of passion, but also the color of aspiration. The five-pointed yellow star symbolizes the solidarity of the Vietnamese people: workers, farmers, intellectuals, soldiers, and youth. That flag is not only a symbol of the nation but also a source of pride and a root in the hearts of every Vietnamese person.

The flag is everywhere, on every road

We saw the flag on the top of Lung Cu, the northernmost point of the country, planted high and proud in the sky of Ha Giang. The flag flew with the clouds and mountains and the wordless stories of many people who crossed the slopes to the North Pole.

On Fansipan, the roof of Indochina, where the wind, clouds and people touch the sky, the Vietnamese flag flutters like a greeting in the sky. Every visitor who comes here wants to have a photo with the flag, not just a moment to show off, but to remember a time of rising up, surpassing one’s own limits.

In Pusilung, one of the wildest and most challenging mountains in the Northwest, we were surprised to see the flag planted on the roof of a house, silently and resiliently covered by clouds. No caption. No fancy background. But strangely enough, that place is one of the most carefully preserved photos.

When the flag becomes a silent friend

The flag also follows us to the sea. On ships drifting dozens of nautical miles from the mainland, the red flag with yellow star still flies steadfastly in the wind and waves, as if the vast sea always has the image of the homeland.

We met the flag on Hien Luong Bridge, a place of division that is now a symbol of unity. We met the flag on the bank of Nho Que River, a steep rock silently preserving the sacred image.

In Pac Bo Cave, which was once a hidden place of history, the flag still appears in the middle of the deep green mountains and forests. And on the simple village roads, if you pay attention, you will also see the flag carefully hung on the roof, next to the bougainvillea trellis, next to the street vendors… Small but strangely warm.

And the gentle random moments

Another time, at Mui Dien, the place that welcomes the first sunrise in Vietnam, we captured a group of young people checking in just as the sun was rising. In the distance, a flag quietly appeared in the early morning sunlight. Just that. But it was an unforgettable moment.

Like me, you will see countless images of charming young people taking pictures next to the flag… Or when walking along a street, you will see a red light, as if someone is welcoming you as you pass by… a small flag is planted sparkling in the wind. No one directed it, no one took the photo. But it is one of the photos that makes us feel gentle and peaceful when we look back.

Proud – Grateful And Thinking About the Future

No one scripted those photos. Every photo with the flag is a reminder to us: we are living in a peaceful country, free to travel, free to record the most beautiful things.

The flag doesn’t need to appear in the middle of the stage. The flag just needs to stand there quietly, and it’s enough to make people want to stand at attention and smile.

Looking back at the entire Mind Connector photo bank, we see one thing clearly: if you and I can see such beautiful images today, it is a blessing.

And perhaps, it is also a reminder. That today we can live in peace, do what we love, embark on meaningful journeys… So, what will we, me, you do so that tomorrow, the next generation can still see that red flag, in such ordinary yet proud moments of life?
